Phyllis’s Wedding Video Journal

After 650 weddings, we have learned a lot about what makes a wedding ceremony go smoothly. We always recommend the bride have a wedding coordinator. However, if  her budget doesn’t permit this, we strongly advise her to ask a willing and trusted friend or relative  to help out.  This does not mean the friend or relative needs to dedicate their entire day to assisting you, but only to be on the job during critical moments.  At all other times, it’s probably only necessary to generally be aware of what’s going on and be ready to help if needed.

One of the most important moments is during the processional. Someone needs to be there to fluff up the bride’s train to make sure it flows nicely down the aisle, check on flowers, and help the flower girl and ring bearer, etc. It is also very important to have someone cue the bridesmaids when to start, since in all the excitement they often forget or can’t gauge when it is time to go.

We always try to be part of your wedding day team and I do what I can to help things run smoothly.  Also, if you have Andrew Nock Photography, Kim is always willing to help out.  Both of us work in husband-wife teams, so we have a little leeway in helping out.  But there’s only so much we can do while manning our cameras during crucial moments.

So, as I wrote above, it’s always a good idea to have a professional coordinator or a willing and able friend or relative to help you out and act as your coordinator and assistant throughout the day.
