Last night we had the pleasure of videotaping once again the Talbot Figure Skating Team.  Their Winter Skating Exhibition at the Talbot County Community Center was as charming and entertaining as ever. If you want to see some stills from the videotape we shot, go to my Facebook fan page.

Kiki and JD at St. Joseph's Mission Church in Cordova, MarylandJD and Kiki were married at Old St. Joseph’s Mission Church in Cordova, Maryland. Their reception was at the home of JD’s parents in St. Michaels, Maryland. Most of Kiki’s family is still in Cuba, and were unable to attend the wedding. We are so happy they chose us to record the day for them.

In spite of a chilly, rainy day, Katie and Mike's wedding at her parents' home in St. Michaels, Maryland was perfect. To see more stills from the digital video, please go to my Facebook page. See some live video clips at:

We had the pleasure of videotaping the dress rehearsal last night of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” at the Riverfront Theatre in Milford, Delaware. The four cast members from the Second Street Players perform all the roles. Very nice job!

Hyatt Regency Chesapeake BayStarting July 1, when we went to the Castleton Festival in Virginia and videotaped La Boheme for Maestro Lorin Maazel, my mantra has been, “Just get through July, just get through July…” We are officially done with July, so I decided it was definitely time to get a blog entry done.

Although I have posted some quick entries to my Facebook page, I have terribly neglected my blog. After three operas and three weddings in July, I am ready for a break. However, all of this beautiful material must be edited, so our work is not done yet.  But it is all post-production, at least until we hit September. Even though we have an editing studio set up at our place near Bethany Beach, it is hard to work when everyone else is playing. (Not that Case and his Marsh Video don’t have a boatload of work to finish–between his corporate clients and film transfers, he has much to do.)

Anyway, we ended the month with a bang. John and Michelle’s wedding at Grace United Methodist Church and their reception at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Cambridge, Maryland, were great. They had their rehearsal dinner at Mitchum’s Steakhouse in Trappe. We videotaped the rehearsal dinner, and projected their “slideshow” on a big screen for everyone to enjoy.

Here are some of the other professionals who provided first-class service for Michelle and John’s beautiful day:

Our dear friends Pam and Irwin finally married off their oldest son Bryan. Case and I had the great pleasure of actually being guests at the wedding reception this past Saturday (we even got to sit at the parents' table). The party was held at Boswell Hall in Bowie Maryland. (Bryan and Sarah had gotten married the day before at the courthouse in Upper Marlboro.)

Bryan works for the Baltimore Orioles as the "In-Game Entertainment Manager"-he's the guy who does the special videos for the jumbotron, among other videography. Sarah teaches in Montgomery County. Good food, drink, and music=good times for all, especially for Case and me. What a nice break for us during this crazy time of the year.

We couldn't be happier for them. All our best wishes for a long, happy life together.

What can you say about the most perfect weather of the year so far? You can say Melissa and Brent’s prayers for a perfect day were answered. Yesterday was pretty much perfect all around.

The bride and her wedding party got ready for the wedding at her godmother’s gorgeous house. The grounds were amazing. Their ceremony was at Camp Mardela in Denton, Maryland–a very special place for both of them–not only had they gone to camp there, but eventually became counselors and fell in love. Before they recessed down the aisle, they rang the camp bell. Case says he thinks he has some of the best video he has ever shot. I did pretty well myself.

The reception was at the Elks Lodge in Easton. Chris Startt did his usual great job as DJ. Amy from Monteray Farms did the flowers. Bay Country Bakers made the beautiful cake. And last, but not least, Andy and Kim Nock did the photographs. (As always, we had a fun time with them and I know they got some great photos. I can’t wait to see them).

Not quite as hectic as our annual "Marsh Madness" in February and March, May and June madness comes close. This is the time of year for graduations, dance recitals, and of course, weddings (Note to Melissa-good weather is forecast for your outdoor wedding on Saturday.) Last Sunday, Marsh Video Productions had the pleasure of taping again the Triple Threat Theater Studio's annual show at the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College. It has been amazing watching these talented kids grow up over the years.

This year's theme was "TV, That's for Me"-a very clever show. The many acts included Lucy "spooning" her way to health with Vitameatavegamin, commercials from Capital One, Snuggies, and Colgate toothpaste, as well as The Flintstones. Triple Threat means singing, dancing, and acting, and all three were well-represented on Sunday. Here are a few video stills from the show:

On Easter Sunday we lost our dear friend and mentor, Bob Lyons to cancer, a cruel and vicious disease. Although we had known Bob professionally for over twenty years, Case and Bob had become best friends in 2003.

Bob was the Director of Safety at Preston Trucking when we first met. He was in charge of the video studio there. One day, in 1990, he called me out of the blue. He wanted me to come over to Preston and bring a sample of our wedding work. I was quite nervous on my way to Preston, but after meeting Bob, all nervousness was gone. He watched the wedding (only one of about three we had done at that point), gave me a few pointers, and told me it was a "nice piece". After this, we would periodically get referrals from him..

In 2003, Bob asked Case to get together for coffee to discuss working together. Bob had started his own studio at this point (Studio 101), specializing in corporate video. Most of the time, he and Case worked with Bob's corporate clients, so he had the lead on those. When Case contracted with a corporate client, he had the lead and Bob assisted. It was the start of a beautiful friendship as well as working relationship.

Bob was there for us when my mom had a sudden stroke and filled in for me at a dance recital we had contracted to do. Even though Bob no longer did event work, as soon as Case called him with the news about my mom, he asked what time did Case want to pick him up. As recently as three weeks ago, he still was there for us. Case had brought him to the house after one of their Panera meetings. I had been converting old S-VHS weddings to DVDs and my S-VHS deck was giving me problems. Bob's comment was he had a deck I could use. Typical Bob.

Bob and Case were morning regulars at Panera Bread in Easton, until fairly recently. Even though Bob was failing, he loved to go there with Case for his favorite beverage, coffee. The only thing Bob loved more than video, coffee, and Case was his family–especially his wife of over fifty years, Bonnie. We will all miss him terribly.

A dear friend of ours is battling a serious disease and we have been trying to convince him to call  Talbot Hospice. Case took a copy of a  Marsh Video DVD we did for Hospice a few years back. Although most of us think Hospice is just for people in the last stages of life with no hope of recovery, the video makes it clear that Hospice is so much more than that.  Their Pathways program is amazing. One of the best things about our work is we are always learning from our clients.

Watching the DVD convinced them to call Hospice. Our friend received at no charge a wheelchair, shower seat, and commode chair–to use at home as long as he needs them. No charge. Hospice also has volunteers who can sit with him while his wife goes shopping, etc. This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you have a loved one who could use some help, please check out the Talbot Hospice website. You don't need a doctor's referral to call Hospice. There is lots of good information on their website, as well as our video:

I posted this on my Facebook page but just in case the word hasn't gotten out to everyone, we are converting our older productions from S-VHS to DVD. We have kept masters of everything we have ever produced back to 1990. This includes weddings, plays, graduations, and more. Give us a call at 410-822-9010 or e-mail us at phyllis@marshvideo.com for more information.

We can also convert home videotapes, all formats (8mm, compact VHS, etc.).

Case and I just finished doing a public relations project for Pepco Holdings (Delmarva Power) regarding the MAPP. (With wedding and event video, I am the boss; with commercial work, Case is the boss.) Here is the link to the videos:

We will be doing more of these interviews in the next few months. Between weddings, graduations, and commercial work, April and May should be quite busy!

In spite of the chilly day, Rob and Heather had a beautiful wedding at Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury, Maryland. Rev. Robert Harris officiated. Heather was a gorgeous bride. The reception was at the Fountains in Salisbury. Ethan of Events by Ethan was the wedding planner, and did a great job. The flowers (by Kitty's Flowers) were beautiful, the cake (by Sweet Disposition) absolutely delicious, and the whole evening was a lot of fun. (All stills are from our high definition video.) Jen Seay was the photographer.  Congratulation to Heather and Rob!
